The Catholic Charities Food Pantry at 1815 Hubbell Avenue in Des Moines will not be able to distribute monthly food boxes until further notice due to an accident that caused structural damage to our facility. During this temporary closure, while we plan for the reconstruction and temporary service for our monthly guests, we still serve daily food bags from the window.

A new coat for a child or a meal for a mother makes all the difference.

Catholic Charities cares for more than 35,000 individuals every year which takes a massive amount of resources. We rely on community support to help us go above and beyond in caring for the needs of those we serve. Many hands make for light work and more impact. Donations and collections from families, groups, churches and businesses support the programs and services within Catholic Charities.

We are committed to providing our clients with a complete circle of care to help them succeed.

Donated items help many different types of people. Donations of diapers, wipes and personal hygiene items support families and individuals receiving care across all our programs. To make a big impact, consider supporting our efforts by collecting our most needed items. Here is a flier you can use with your youth group, soccer team, prayer circle, family, or school to Help Us Help Them:

You can always shop our programs Amazon Wish Lists to see some of the most currently needed items.

We do accept furniture donations! Please contact Director of Development, Bobbi Jo Smith at bsmith@catholiccharitiesdm.org for inquiries or to set up a donation drop-off time.

We do accept baby items! All of our programs have a need for baby diapers, wipes and formula.

Donations can be brought to our main office location at 601 Grand Ave., Des Moines, IA, 50309. Larger donations, like furniture, can be brought to the Catholic Charities’ warehouse at 3 College Ave, Des Moines, IA 50314 every Monday from 12 pm – 4 pm.

To celebrate Catholic Charities’ Centennial year, we’ve created the Catholic Charities’ 100 Challenge! Collect 100 personal care and hygiene items to help alleviate the immediate needs of those we serve.
